Translation service customers, agencies and translators themselves constantly ask the same question: how to evaluate the translation quality? How can a head of an agency or a client know which translator works more efficiently and which one is better to break the cooperation with?

Finding no answer to these questions, people usually lean on clients’ or editors’ personal assessment, which has only two gradations — ‘like’ and ‘dislike’. Therefore, translation quality assessment is rarely objective, because it depends solely on someone’s personal opinion and is not based on formal criteria. Moreover, without distinctive translation quality assessing criteria it is impossible to build up a dialogue between a translator on one side and an editor or a customer on the other. This, in turn, obstructs translators to learn from their mistakes and makes the translation quality management in agencies ineffective.

TQAuditor system is a tool that allows you to establish distinctive translation quality assessment rules and standards. It compares two versions of a file and generates a change report, which can be used for translator`s training. In addition, an editor can categorize every mistake by type and severity. Based on this classification the system calculates a translation quality index according to set standards. A translator and an editor can anonymously discuss controversial points error by error, and as a last resort, a translator can ask an arbiter to take final decision.

Translation quality assessment details are saved in a database and are used by the system to generate reports. For example, you can quickly find out who was the best translator of the month, which editors are more strict, which types of mistakes are typical for a translator, which subjects are his or her strengths, how his or her quality level changes every month, and so on. System translation quality standards are flexible, so each agency can change them to suit their needs.

With this system any agency will take its translation quality management to a brand new level.
